Cologne, Germany – The Student Parliament of the University of
Cologne has decided to boycott all beverages of the Coca-Cola Company
in all of the college’s common areas and cafeterias. The Evangelical
Student Association on Tuesday said that the cause was the accusations
against the company of shared responsibility for human rights violations
in Colombia and the murder of trade unionists by death squads. (afp)
The boycott at the University of Cologne encompasses all of the Coca-Cola
Company’s products, in addition to Coca-Cola also Fanta, Sprite,
Lift and Bonaqua. Information indicates that student representatives at
the universities of Bonn and Wuppertal had also spoken out in favor of
such a boycott. (afp)
Köln - Das Studenten-Parlament der Universität Köln hat einen Boykott sämtlicher Getränke des Coca-Cola-Konzerns in den Mensen und Cafeterien der Hochschule beschlossen. Als Grund nannte die Evangelische Studentengemeinde (ESG) am Donnerstag Vorwürfe gegen den Konzern, für Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Kolumbien und Morde an Gewerkschaftern durch Todesschwadronen mit verantwortlich zu sein.
Der Boykott an der Kölner Uni soll demnach alle Produkte des Coca-Cola-Konzerns
betreffen, neben Coca-Cola also auch Fanta, Sprite, Lift und Bonaqua.
Den Angaben zufolge hatten sich zuvor unter anderem auch die Studierendenvertretungen
der Universitäten Bonn und Wuppertal für einen solchen Boykott
ausgesprochen.(afp)
